Installation of a Residential SewageTreatment Plant to service 14 properties with up to 50 persons

Project

Installation of a Residential SewageTreatment Plant to service 14 properties with up to 50 persons

Location

Village near Caernarfon in North Wales

Plant

BIOROCK MULTIROCK System comprising a BIOROCK 20,000L Primary Tank and  2 x ECOROCK-5000 Treatment Units.

Description: This is a scheme of houses and apartments, some of which are occupied permanently and others which are used at weekends and for holiday rentals. The existing 'system' had raw sewage from all of the properties and the surface water going to a single discharge pipe and out to the sea. The system needed to be able to cope with occupancy levels varying from less than 10 persons and up to 50 persons at times. The project involved the installation of a 50 person non-electric plant discharging to a surface water drain and the re-routing of the surface water drainage from several of the properties. The BIOROCK System was chosen because the owners of the properties wanted a non-electric and low maintenance system so as to avoid ongoing management of running and maintenance costs associated with an electric system. It was a very challenging installation due to the presence of rock in the sub-soil and the requirement for manual excavation during some of the surface water re-routing.
